Auvis (blue slip) inspections in queanbeyan nsw

Blue Slip Inspections in NSW

If you own an unregistered light vehicle or one that was previously registered in another state, you will need to have a Blue Slip Inspection performed by an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station (AUVIS) before it is legal to drive it in NSW. (Only RMS accredited mechanics are able to perform vehicle safety and registration inspections).

Clem Camage Motors are fully accredited and are an Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection Station (AUVIS), meaning we are well placed to perform blue slip inspections to Roads & Maritime Service requirements in and around the queanbeyan area.

What is a blue slip inspection?

A Blue Slip Inspection is carried out on unregistered vehicles and is designed to ensure vehicles are in a safe and roadworthy condition and also satisfy specific design and identity standards.

The most important differences between a blue slip inspection and an e-safety inspection are that the blue slip inspection involves a specific identity check of the vehicle and the safety inspection extends to the design and manufacture of the vehicle as well as any modifications or alterations carried out after manufacture.

When do i need a blue slip inspection

Blue slip inspections are performed on vehicles for purposes of identification, where registration has expired for more than three months, to clear a defect notice, where the vehicle has been significantly altered, to inspect vehicles prior to purchasing or when vehicles are transferring registration from interstate/overseas.

Blue slip inspections are required where a vehicle has no number plates. In limited circumstances, Blue Slip Inspections may also be undertaken in order to re-register a previously written off vehicle. Very strict requirements apply in this situation. See the Roads & Maritime Services (RMS) page on Written Off Vehicles for more information.

Results of your Clem Camage Motors Authorised Unregistered Vehicle Inspection (Blue Slip) will be sent to Roads and Maritime Services electronically.

Inspection reports are only valid for 42 days from the date of the inspection so make sure and follow up with the RMS quickly.
